According to news reports, a 51-year-old male died when a truck he was driving veered off the road and struck a tree head-on. The victim was a lieutenant for the Martin County Fire Rescue Station 22 - the same department that responded to the fatality.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the man apparently over corrected when he veered off the road. The FHP also reports the roadway was wet at the time and that may have contributed to the accident, which remains under investigation.
We ask everyone to be careful and wear their seatbelts when driving.
