A mother and daughter died in a car accident after their minivan crashed into an Aventura canal.
Aventura police officers arrived at the crash scene but could not free the women because the water in the canal was too deep. Divers arrived a minute later and pulled the unconscious women, who were in cardiac arrest, from the vehicle. Both women died at the hospital.
Witnesses told investigators that the minivan was backing up when it crashed through a wooden fence and crashed into the water.
With the start of the new school year upon this, this story should serve as a reminder to obey all traffic signs, speed zones and crossing guards.
