trick or treat.jpgOn Halloween, young children are often bitten by "friendly" dogs in the neighborhood that don't recognize a familiar face in a costume. Please make sure children are warned not to approach dogs - even friendly dogs that they know - while in costume. A dog can become frightened and bite.

Additionally, door bells and the noises associated with trick-or-treaters can cause dogs to act aggresively. Please lock up your animals on Halloween so that they cannot become aggressive or attack trick-or-treaters that come to your door.

Finally, do not walk dogs with trick-or-treaters. As stated above, this can only be a recipe for disaster. It is strict liability to own a dog in Florida. As such, you, the owner, are responsible for all dog bites, damages and injuries caused by your animal.
