christmas tree.jpgA recent study found that most holiday car accidents occur the day before or after a holiday and not on the holiday itself. In fact, the days preceding a holiday pose the greatest threat for accident fatalities.

The study found that the typical holiday had a low incidence of car accidents involving crashes and fatalities because most holiday travelers have met their destination and tend to remain there. For example, Thanksgiving Day in 2008 was the thirteenth lowest day for serious car crashes. The increased shopping caused by the discounts given on "Black Friday" makes it a particularly dangerous time to be on the roads.
