Man Falls Down Elevator Shaft in Fort Lauderdale

elevator.jpgAn insurance adjuster fell down an elevator shaft at the Las Olas By The River Condominium. It seems that the man was at the building on business when he saw a dog's leash caught in the elevator doors. He ran over to assist the dog owner in attempting to free her dog. When the man pried the doors of the elevator open to pull out the dog's leash, the elevator doors opened and the man fell down the shaft.

The man fell three (3) stories. After the trip and fall, the man was conscious and called for help. He was taken to Broward Medical Center for treatment.

Florida Bill Targets Pit Bulls and Other Vicious Dog Breeds

pit bull 4.jpgThe Florida Senate is advancing a bill that establishes stricter requirements for dog owners of certain dangerous breeds of dog. The bill requires that owners of dangerous breeds such as pit bulls be mandated to mauzzle the animal to prevent a serious dog bite, carry insurance to pay for attacks and take courses in ownership of these animals.

This contraversial bill would repeal Florida's current law that forbids dog breed specific regulation. Support for the legislation has gained support after recent vicious dog attacks on children in Broward and Palm Beach County. Although the bill's drafters targeted pit bulls, the bill also covers other presumed dangerous breeds.
