Walt Disney World monorails were out of service briefly after a monorail pilot received a minor electric shock while flipping a switch, authorities said. The pilot was mildly shocked in the arm while switching on a beacon that identifies the beam the monorail is traveling on, a fire official and Disney said. He was taken to Florida Hospital Celebration Health by ambulance, where he was treated and released. Park guests were removed from the area while the pilot was being treated on the platform. The monorails were down for 20 or 30 minutes.

In July 2009, monorail pilot Austin Wuennenberg, 21, was killed when one train backed up and crashed into another one. The National Transportation Safety Board said its investigation will last until at least this fall. The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited Disney for four safety violations and fined the company $35,200. On July 9, an electrician was killed by a large jolt of electricity as he worked at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Disney.

A young child survived a fall from the second floor of an apartment building. The incident occurred at the Gardens Apartments, located at 13180 Port Said Rd. in Opa Locka at around 2 p.m., Saturday. The 5-year-old boy was staying with his godmother when he slipped through the railings on the second floor of the apartment building and fell over 10 feet to the ground.

Following the fall, the boy was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he is receiving treatment. According to residents of the apartment complex, the part of the railing the boy fell through has been broken for some time. On Saturday, police wrapped tape around the broken rail, in order to prevent another fall. Later, a board was placed on top of the broken section of the railing. However, residents want the rail to be permanently fixed.

A Georgia tourist died after being knocked from a boat in northern Florida. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reports that a 56-year-old man was riding on a 19-foot boat, entering the Mexico Beach Canal, when a wave hit the vessel and threw him into the water. The watercraft accident victim, who was not wearing a life jacket, was pulled from the water and taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A 72 year old employee of Walmart was killed after he suffered an accidental fall while at work. According to reports, the employee had been working on a store rack when he attempted to step down from a ladder. The senior citizen employee missed the ladder and fell. He died as a result of this accidental fall.

A thriteen year old Davie, Florida boy passed away after being strangled by a hammock that he was playing in. According to reports, the boy was found by his father who untangled his son from the hammock. Although paramedics performed CPR in an effort to revive the boy and the child was transferred to a trauma center, he did not survive. An investigation into the incident still has not revealed how the boy managed to get tangled in the hammock, if he was playing or just lying in the hammock, whether he slipped and fell or tripped and fell while in the hammock and whether he was adequately supervised.

Funeral arrangements for the boy are being held in Davie where mourners were asked to wear baseball jerseys - as the child was an avid baseball player and fan. An insurance adjuster fell down an elevator shaft at the Las Olas By The River Condominium. It seems that the man was at the building on business when he saw a dog's leash caught in the elevator doors. He ran over to assist the dog owner in attempting to free her dog. When the man pried the doors of the elevator open to pull out the dog's leash, the elevator doors opened and the man fell down the shaft.

The man fell three (3) stories. After the trip and fall, the man was conscious and called for help. He was taken to Broward Medical Center for treatment.

A recent study suggests that slip and fall and trip and fall accidents in hospitals are becoming an even larger problem than in years past. The study suggests ways to improve patient safety in hospitals through patient education. It is commonplace that many families decorate their homes both on the interior and exterior during the holiday season. Recently a study was compiled that showed that more than a third of people over the age of 65 slip and fall each year in Florida. Sadly, more than 1 fall in 10 results in a fractured hip or other serious injury.

Florida's elderly community needs protection. Store owners and businesses that service our state's elderly population must keep their locations safe and free from debris and objects that can cause injury. A Walt Disney World cast member is dead after a slip and fall accident at Hollywood Studios. A stunt performer was fatally injured during a rehearsal for the " Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular." He was doing a tumbling roll when he was hurt.

Disney workers dialed 911 to report the incident. The man was rushed to Florida Hospital Celebration Health, where he was pronounced dead.

This is the third reported death by a Disney stunt performer in the last few months. Now matter what line of work you are in or how much experience you have, you never know that an accident like this can happen to you.
